Memories of 2012

Bridget (Mel's daughter) had just arrived Thursday after the sing-a-long ended and we were all leaving. Cynthia noticed Bridget's boys were playing with kazoos and asked me to get them away from the boys, Donovan and Jay (the birthday boy).

I lived with these three for a year so they were used to the strict disciplinarian I could be. "Give me those kazoos." I instructed with a gruff tone. I put them on the fireplace mantle and came back to the boys.

I was staying with them at Mary's Lake Lodge so I said, "Come on, find your mom. We're going home."

I didn't hear Jay's response but Stephanie (my wonderful daughter) did so she came to me and asked, "Did you hear Jay?"

"No,' I replied. "What did he say?"

"When you said they were going home he said, 'All the way to Omaha?' Can you imagine what he was thinking for a minute before we told him otherwise?"  Steph laughed, tears in her eyes from her laughter.

I don't know who corrected this misconception, but I hope it was Steph when she heard it uttered.
